This will be a tough, exciting game… but I think the Pens should win it. At least, the new system should win it. I think the players need to think not just react. Also, I think keeping Downie in control may be key. I just mean clean hits. No crazy penalties cause it’s the flyers

Absolutely my favorite Pittsburgh rivalry. Despise the Cryers and their fans. Their D is terrible this year….TERRIBLE. Time to take out the orange and black trash.

Any thoughts on Fleury’s yellow pads ? I remember a lot of talk about them the last time he wore something similar. That it was an advantage to the opposition, making the puck easier to see. I thought all the talk was bunk. What do you think ?

Dark pads (or appalling bright yellow ones) delineate the open net more clearly to the shooter. White pads best.

When they are deciding who to scratch when Bortuzzo is ready, if they do it purely on merit, it should be Ehrhoff. It’s only 5 games, but he hasn’t been very good.

What was Mcguire talking about that the Pens overstayed their PP shifts, having only one Dman, Letang, out on the ice for that last goal? Did I miss something or was that not the #1 unit out there to finish up the PP at which point, they only utilize one Dman?

I don’t have a problem with embellishment being a call. I guess I didn’t see it well enough to come to that conclusion there. Anything to keep hockey from becoming international soccer with faking injuries is ok by me.
A lot of us have talked about trading for wingers, but I’m starting to think we need a really physical defenseman. Not sure Bortuzzo is the one to fill the bill.

I haven’t read much about attendance. Is the sold out streak still going. I saw Vancouver’s ended. I also see Florida quit giving away tickets out of respect to season ticket holders that paid a bundle.
Flyers could be 0-20 on season and would still whip us at Consol.

The Pens stars pretty much no showed tonight. That’s a losing formula most nights.

Malkin played another horrible game. Something has to be wrong. Countless turnovers, bad defensive plays. Its mounting on Geno
Can’t have one player freelancing within a new system. HCMJ needs to lay down law. Now.
Orange derangement syndrome. Can be the only reason they play a completely different game than the first 4. Over-passing, refusing to put the puck on net and turnover after turnover in the neutral zone.
Despres, Letang, Erhoff, Geno & Sutter all played badly tonight. Sometimes you can see why former staff didn’t have much confidence in Simon. He does need to keep getting chances though. Remember when he went to Wilkesbarre and played a lot of defense first? He was better after.
Letang has to play better and make better decisions. Cost them two goals by not making the simply play. Time for MJ to be “direct” with him. Also Malkin has to use his head and not his risk taking all the time. Making the simple play and not turnover the puck is OK.
