Hurricanes 5, Penguins 2

Pens only dressing 17 skaters because of the cap, awesome

It's very irritating to me that they can't even dress a full compliment of 20 players.

Hanging on to the bridge rail with one hand ... checkin' in. Evening Gents (and lasses)!

I wasn't aware Jordan Staal was still in the league.

Great job Scuderi

Good Lord Scuderi.....

Can't believe people still want Jordan Staal back especially at his salary.

Scuds ... proving yet again he's worthy of the "A"

Fleury appears a little out of sorts tonight.

Oy, Ward.
Please.

Look at the bright side, it is the 2nd time this month the Penguins have scored in the first period.

The highlight of that 1st period for me was during one of the commercial breaks when I discovered, much to my delight, a Klondike in the freezer. Outstanding.

Crosby looks great. He'll get two more points tonight if he keeps playing like this.

Old 29er calling out the Pens for taking the Canes too lightly.

Kunitz's hands are like bricks now.

Aarggghh
Can't finish
Again

So why doesn't Tocchet get 1/50th of the crap that Mike Yeo got about this pitiful power play.

The Canes announcer said the Pens are playing 11 forwards tonight. Apparently he's counting Bennett.

Winnik showing a little flash there, never quit. Nice, Tanger gonnna see that one in his sleep

Cam Ward is out of his mind tonight. Pens are easily carrying play. Can only hope he breaks down.

Does every goalie we face look like a Vezina candidate or are we just that inept at scoring anymore? Smh

And.....
Done

This team is in no way assured of making the playoffs
Some serious soul searching is in order

Looks like the H'canes are looking for a playoff spot. Pens are not defensing at all.

This is embarrassing.

This team stinks. Stinks.

This is sickening

So wonder how many guys HCMJ is going to say were competing tonight?

Got off an important phone call and WTH, 3 down now? Losing my grip ...

Hard to remember a Pens team in playoff position this bad this late in the season. While March success is not necessarily a predictor for playoff success (15-0 in March two years ago), a mentally fragile team finishing poorly is likely fatal. This is also the worst come from behind team in the Crosby era.

Any bets on what tonight's excuses for this mess will be?

Has Spaling made any kind of play in the past month?

Pull the Flower, no need for him to suffer back there w/no help.
Might, just might, make a few guys bear down a bit.
Too late, I fear.

Another game, another new flaw in the Penguins game.

Fleury has been great all year, stole more than a few games, not tonight, Cam Ward is earning that big Rutherford extension. And whomever is everyone's regular whipping boy can probably receive their schedule lashing.

So at what point does Tocchet light a fire under these guys butts like I heard he would do?

The other part of his job description as PP coach isn't going very well.

Last game when STL got down by 2 Steve Ott said EFF this, found a partner and made a statement/ When this team got down by 2 they lowered their heads and went to the bench to change. Just....just heartless. Not even so much as a whimper tonight.

Out scored 23-10 since they led Oilers 4-0. 1 win in last 7 games.

Just wondering, How soon does the sellout streak at Consol end?

I think I read that Johnston questioned the compete level of some players after the last OT loss. I wonder what he thinks now as his team is getting pounded by the last team in the division? Canes scoring as if it's an NHL all star game.

Being down three going into the third, for a team with zero come from behind wins, is pretty much fat lady singing time.

Let's see, 1 goal on 23 shots, hmmm, 72 more shots will tie the game and the corsi stats will make the Pens the team of the century.

I know many of you disagree with me on this, but this was the time the Pens needed Brooks Orpik. IMO he meant more to the locker room than people give him credit for.

I can only watch the Canes broadcast. As they celebrate another goal, the Canes announcers cannot explain the suspect play of the Pens.

Pens broadcast basically calling out crosbys leadership. Or lack there of in the lockeroom. Either he or HCMJ needs to step up

Now I'm paying attention to the Bruins score as much as this one - though if this keeps up it won't matter if the Pens make the playoffs. I guess the hope is that the return of two players will fix everthing. Logging off to go back and watch the third.

Thats it! Pens are in their home uniforms so they think they are at Consol.

0-15 when trailing after 2. Great team

I'm so proud to root for 29

Sens down 5-1 vs Rangers who are the best team by far on the planet. Will likely end night only 6 points clear of 9th and Sens have a game in hand and home game vs Pens in last week.

Perron couldn't hit a barn with a shot right now

We have a garbage league that allows obstruction at an alarming rate and team without 2 of its top 4 forwards. People are still throwing fits about a lack of scoring. How about we all complain about the darkness after sun goes down?

Cannot wait for the playoffs to begin. I'm really seeing how this plan to gel for the deep Spring run is taking shape. No opponent could possibly take them seriously. Genius!

Looking for a soft place to land.

I'm not saying HCMJ can't coach. He just can't coach this team. We need a coach who will adapt to the personnel and not the other way around. This one is on GMJR.

Other observation - we've got stars AND garbage. Kunitz, Scuds, Adams, BB, & Lapierre wouldn't even be dressing in Chicago, Anaheim, Detroit, etc. The stars on the Pens are balanced out by the garbage and what remains is a slightly above average team. Time to look in the mirror.

Suds sucks so bad tonight. So bad.

Pens are playing like they want to see HCMJ fired.

Never take Nestrasil if you're driving long distances or operating heavy machinery.

Time . to . cue . up . a . movie.

2014/2015 ~ we're done.

Pens doing research on how to run a power play
Their verdict?
"So that's what you're supposed to do"

1. No more Scuderi excuses, total lackadaisical pass led to goal.

2. HCMJ, pink slip, this team has quit.

3. Letang for Norris, please, so many turnovers, can't run a powerplay. He also quit tonight.

4. Sutter, useless.

5. Team Idenity = Quitters. There is no other way to describe them. They are an embarrassment. Fire HCMJ tonight,

6. They better not bring Swedish rookies up and burn a year. This team cannot win the Cup and a win in the playoffs may be asking them too much. They have no shame.

Is this rock bottom?

Why is Fleury still being subjected to this ?

Don't know if I see this team winning another cup with the C on Crosby. For the "greatest in the game" he sure doesn't show up a lot of nights and you really don't see him taking over a game like you see Malkin or even like Mario used to do and the turnovers are killer. With Crosby, Malkin. Letang taking up about 40% of salary cap it doesn't leave much room to improve.

DK does the cap apply in the playoffs?

Your Pens Peeps.
Sub- .500 hockey since mid December.

They sure are putting a lot of pressure on Malkin and Hornqvist. If they don't come back and start lighting it up quick we may have already seen the best this team has and it isn't nearly good enough.

Bruins in OT so 9th place team will be at most 6 points behind Pens

After Arizona and before Buffalo finale are sharks, Flyers twice, jackets, Sens and Isles. Don't see many points there.

@penguins: Sidney Crosby: “We can’t accept effort like this against a team that is out of the playoffs."

Same story after every game...when is there going to be action and change

Is this group a bunch of coach killers? Or does MJ just have 0 control/idea how to manage a hockey team?

Isles 93 points in 75 games, Pens 91/74, Wings 90/73, Caps 90/73, Sens 85/73, Bruins 85/74

One of these teams is missing the playoffs and many are struggling now.

I really hate to say it, but I think we're done, and I think we need to throw a pile of cash at Mike Babcock, who might be able to make sense out of the mess we are in. HCMJ has tried, but this season is a relative fail thus far. If we make the playoffs, we won't survive the first round.(Gee, I'm a true Pens fan now, aren't I?)

Wow! When will the bring in mike Babcock begin?!

I guess Johnston's playoff system doesn't work on non-playoff teams. On the less dark side there are some other Eastern teams in playoff slots playing bad hockey.

Can't wait for DK's breakdown tomorrow - honestly, I've never subscribed to any sports news before, but this season, both written pieces and commentary on radio have been spot on. Are we going to go for Babcock? Is there any way to salvage this season, which started with such incredible promise? Are the Pens simply a broken team in the locker room? Inquiring minds want to know, because my Ranger-fan friends are heckling me, and I need good answers! (And a salve for my broken Pens heart...)

The good news: Opening Day in 11!

While there's no excuse for losing to a crap team like the 'Cains, No Malkin, No Horny, No Maatta, No Hoff, No Duper. Those are tough players to replace.

While the team of Ron Francis is beset with injury, the team of Jim Rutherford is beset with Shero's horrible signings.
