North Carolina State 68, Pitt 50

I thought NC State was 1-0 in ACC play, DK. Beat Wake, I believe.

Anyone else gonna be at the game today?

I believe game is on wtae- tv 4.

Pitt's offense is even more painful to watch in person

Nice little run by the Panthers after sluggish start.

Newkirk looks awful right now, and no one can hit a shot. Not a good first 15 minutes

These are the games Pitt has to win to get into the tourney this year.

27-20 Wolfpack at the break.

NC State hit a fade away jumper at the horn. Kevin is right. This is exactly the type of game that will determine whether Pitt is a legitimate tourney club or not.

A point-a-minute offense won't cut it on the road against anyone.

This team is terrible to watch in person my friends

They just aren't a good team right now. Actually, they look like an ACC bottom feeder. We can only hope they turn a corner at some point.

Jim, they look nowhere close to turning a corner. They look like an awful team with absolutely no direction at all

Dixon went south when Blair left. Now due to the urgency of repairing the football program from the Smiley/ Nordy era, Dison will be building the program for awhile on Pitts dime. Plus Pitt BB is about 20 to 25% of revenue so no change can be done until the buyout is financially affordable. If and when Pitt/Gallagher can turn the fortunes of football, Dixon is then on the front burner down the road. Not sure when but Pitt can;t let a 140 million investment in the Pete go dark.

Difficult game to watch.
Seems these guys are sooooo hesitant to take a shot.
Then try to shoot with shot clock winding down... nothing has changed in Dixon run offense.
Dixon offense doesn't work well without a true center. Young is a PF playing out of position. Dixon either has to recruit Centers or change his offense to a 2-PF offense and 3 guards like Villinova.
Buckle up for a long season.
Pitt will not be dancing in March.

can Narduzzi coach the basketball team defense too?

Sorry everyone, it's on me. Here are the last two Pitt games I've been to:

18-point loss to NC State today.
18-point loss to Wichita State in the NCAA Tournament.

I'm just going to stay away now.

For a little comparison, WVU downed N.C. State 83-69 two weeks ago at Madison Square Garden. The score was not indicative of the beatdown the Mounties handed the Wolfpack.

WVU (now 13-1) has an extremely special team this year, just finishing off a previously unbeaten TCU 78-67 away, this without Big 12 preseason player of the year Juwan Staten (flu). This team goes 12 deep, presses 60 minutes, and is an absolute pleasure to watch. WVU has everything needed to make a deep run during March Madness. I understand this site's logistical need to primarily focus on Pittsburgh teams (I don't know how DK pulls off everything currently on his plate!), but I really hope that this WVU team begins to get a little coverage here. Maybe that will become more feasible after our Steelers secure their seventh Super Bowl victory. West Virginia's current form on the hardwood certainly warrants and cries out for it.
