Podcast: Downie, LeBeau, Kang w/ Madden

Anyone else creeped out by the funeral home ad you have to listen to before you can hear the 105.9 broadcast online. "Your loved one never leaves our care"

Great session on 105.9!

Another entertaining discussion. Plenty of laughs, as usual.

Any way to get the podcasts to work from within the app?

Im sure by now everyone has heard the Jordy Mercer defensive stats. The fact he played the most games last year and still showed up to mini-camp speaks volumes that he still is trying to improve.

I know nothing of Kang and probably wont pass judgement on him until deep into the season. But I dont think Mercer has anything to worry about at SS. Moreover, I think Kang was brought in as insurance policy for Walker/Harrison. Maybe even 1st if Alvarez and Hart both struggle. Chances are he starts the season at Indy.

I know for the Pirates 16/4 sounds like a lot of money, but since the average player makes 3 million, its not breaking the bank by any means...Long term, I think the hope is he can replace Walker at 2nd, for a 1/3 of the price, and give them at least a league average bat and glove.

Steelers sign Isaiah Lewis, safety from Michigan State. Lewis was a first-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior. Diamond in the rough. Oh, and a great guy. I coach him in Baseball in Indianapolis. He could really mash.

DK. Great podcast. Just one thing where the shoulder is concerned. The pitcher shoulder to hockey shoulder, especially where Maata is concerned is an apples to oranges comparison. Please don't take this as nitpicking, I'm just trying to help educate. :)

Due to The overuse nature of a baseball, an MRI is not the be all end all for diagnosis, and you absolutely have to rely on signs, symptoms, special physical tests, the player's input, as well as objectively observing performance to get the best read on what is structurally affected within that pitcher's shoulder. You try to correlate all of those things and then make the right diagnosis, but more often than not, the surgeon won't have a full picture of the pitcher's injury until they get inside with the 'scope. The overuse aspect of pitching muddies the MRI waters, because, more often than not, some level of tissue inflammation or irritation will be present. The question becomes at that point; "Is he really hurt or does he just need to be shut down, or is there more going on than what this scan is showing us?" I believe that a study in the early 2000's looked at MRI scans of healthy collegiate pitchers and that somewhere around60% of them showed positive MRI results that could be interpreted at some level as an injury. You are absolutely correct that baseball shoulder injury diagnosis is multi factorial and a lot of info needs to be collected before making a definitive diagnosis.

On the hockey end, you will do all the same tests, but due to the typically acute nature of hockey shoulder injuries, and the gross traumatic damage sustained by the soft tissue, an MRI will be way more likely to illuminate what structures are actually damaged thereby making diagnosis a bit more cut and dry, than say the throwing shoulder.

Hope this help, keep up the great work!!!!

Imagine if you were the defensive coordinator for one of the top college football programs in the country, and you suddenly decided to "retire" yet after doing so you apply for other coaching positions, yet you don't get so much as a interview. A defensive coordinator from a place known as Linebacker U. And you dont get one interview? Joe knew, they all knew!
