Easily one of the highlights of my week. Think about that for a minute. Now I’m depressed.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 19:44:49
Great segment. Tomlin’s testing the waters strategy against New York is sickening. The guy just isn’t an elite head coach. If we miss the playoffs this year, I wish we’d fire him.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 19:45:15
I miss the old green lantern trib-live radio podcasts. Was something I used to look forward to. Wish you had a radio show (sorry!) too.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 23:34:30
Give it time. Please. So much going on, still, in establishing site.
Nov 13, 2014 @ 07:22:20
No rush DK. Although the bobbleheads were sorta creepy, they sorta fit your style. LOL
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:05:45
Pirates trade Justin Wilson to Yankees for Francisco Cervelli.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:26:00
Hoping that means we’ll see some pitching added through the FA market then.
Farewell, Russ.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:27:15
Bonne journée monsieur Martin.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:36:43
They say they’ll continue to pursue him. Heyman said, anyway. Wilson had a subpar last half last season.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:41:38
Of course they’re saying that. Don’t listen to what they say, watch what they do.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 22:27:23
Pirates would get slammed by some fans for “giving up” on Martin. Martin would have one fewer bidder for his services. Both parties gain by saying it’s still possible, so it’s “still possible”.
Granted, it still IS possible, but I don’t think they give up Wilson for a backup
Nov 13, 2014 @ 10:13:54
I really don’t see how this has moved the needle at all.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:09:43
Deadspin article: Oscar Tavares had .287 blood-alcohol level. Not a typo: .287. Good lord. Takes about 15 drinks in two hours to reach that. Wow.
Nov 13, 2014 @ 10:11:33
Completely changes the story, doesn’t it?
.
If this is true, Oscar Taveras is a murderer.
Nov 13, 2014 @ 10:23:41
Yikes. It certainly does.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:25:01
Pirates traded Justin Wilson for Francisco Cervelli
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:33:59
The thing about Cervelli is health. He’s a pretty good player when healthy. Unfortunately for him, that hasn’t been often enough. Biogenesis guy also.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:51:15
That is true, health has been a problem.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:51:27
Pirates have a thing for Yankees catchers – Martin, Stewart, Cervelli.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 21:53:23
Twitter is currently turning Justin Wilson into Sparky Lyle.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 23:46:46
is this the v real mMilo Hamilton?
Nov 13, 2014 @ 12:57:23
No sir, just a weak imitation.
Nov 12, 2014 @ 23:54:22
Pirates had little choice if Martin is talking five years and 75 to 80 million. But the need now is pitching and more pitching. LH reliever as well. NH does a good job with the bull pen so we’ll see. But now let things settle a wait for the big FA’s to sign and then get busy.
Nov 13, 2014 @ 00:16:36
Pirates are expected to be around 69 million without Martin. So that leaves 20 million if the Pirates are looking to add a pitcher and a bopper. But that number is flexible depending on Ike and Gaby. Also, my guess is Volquez or Liriano will be signed. Hopefully Morton comes bak
Nov 13, 2014 @ 00:25:22
One other item, Pedro to first makes Gaby and Ike gone as Tony Sanchez can fill in from time to time. So that 6 million to spend as well. Also the numbers are closer to 67 million with Ike and Gaby so 23+6 is 29 million to get to 90 million. Some wiggle room there.
Nov 13, 2014 @ 01:02:43
Sounds good to me but hunch Gaby remains. Cutch pined for an everyday 1st baseman, but Neal gently shot that down and still sees cobbling together a platoon as realistic option. Bucs also like Gaby’s glove late in games. Finally, Neal says Tony is a catcher heading into spring.
Nov 13, 2014 @ 01:03:56
Would have been nice to keep Gaby around to hit LHP. But with him dropping off last year, the NL Central having so few lefty starters and this, I believe, being his third year of arbitration, it just isn’t cost effective. I think they do need to get a 1B that hits from the right.
Nov 13, 2014 @ 07:43:33
agree with the lack of production and power on Gabby. The bucs focus on pitching has to be the use of the money not dedicated to Martin. Pedro has to hit and or this team will find run production down as Harrison certainly will not have a year like last year.
